Best. Podcast. Ever. Maybe?

Nate Williams from Union Labs talks DeepTech GTM and a lot of other really interesting stu*f.

Hi ,

2024 demands new GTM tactics. In the latest episode of the Seed to Sequoia podcast, Nate Williams talks about the different stages of sales, from “everyone sells” in the early days to hiring that Porsche-driving, ex-Salesforce sales leader with a $100mm quota, and the importance of a team approach to sales.

Nate is the Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Union Labs Venturesan applied DeepTech seed fund focused on building and backing leading seed-stage startups in Climate, PropTech and Mobility.

Nate and I go way back–to business school at UCLA Anderson, where we were a year apart and studied a lot of the same things. He is a hands-on serial entrepreneur having previously spent time as EIR at Kleiner Perkins and CRO & Head of Business at August Home, which he helped build into the leader in smart home access. August was acquired by Assa Abloy in 2017 in one of the most successful exits in that space.

Nate has a unique and nuanced way of thinking about venture that is colored not only by his many years as an investor, but also as an operator at all growth stages. He brings a level of insight to the craft that few others do. His investing spans leading DeepTech companies like Antimatter, Zerofy, Urban Sky, PicoMES, Strella Biotechnology, Raise Robotics, and many more.

In the episode, Nate shares both tactical and strategic advice, hard won from being an operator and a general partner. We cover everything from whether you should pitch venture associates to the role of the CRO to hustle porn (not just a clickbait graphic!) to hiring and managing people as a founder.
